The main objective is to eat clean and natural foods. That is, avoid excess sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, refined grains and trans fats. While fitness athletes do not focus on one macro nutrient to the detriment of others, they do take a greater amount of protein and lower carbohydrates than most people. The fitness models are very active and committed to a demanding and consistent weight training plan. Lean proteins such as tuna, egg white, chicken breast, whey protein and some lean meat are usually included in each shot. The sources of carbohydrates are oatmeal, brown rice, sprouted whole grain breads and quinoa. Vegetables and fruits are also carbohydrates that offer volume without many calories. They also provide important nutrients to help muscle development and a healthy appearance. Fitness models take advantage of monounsaturated fats, such as those found in flax seeds, avocados, olive oil and nuts. Fat helps in the process of vitamin absorption, hormone production, and improves the appearance of hair and skin.

Drinks

Water is the drink chosen by female fitness models. The well-known model Monica Brant who has appeared in several fitness magazines says she drinks at least 2 liters of water a day. You should avoid carbonated beverages as they may contain sugar or artificial sweeteners and may cause bloating. And alcohol, especially just before a competition or a photo shoot, is an absolute “no”, as it can cause you to retain fluid and make you look bloated. As commented by the fitness model and competitor Alisha Marie in August 2010 in the magazine “Oxygen”.
